Q. What is a heritage rose?

Ideas vary. Roses bred before the first Hybrid Tea (1867) or roses more than 100 years old are common definitions. In Australia,  we consider early Australian-bred roses as our heritage and worth preserving, at least up to 1940. That includes roses of Alister Clark, Mrs

Fitzhardinge and others. We are also searching for apparently-lost roses bred by Frank Riethmuller in the 1950s.
